چکیده

BackgroundElectronic gaming has recently been reported as a precipitant of life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia in susceptible individuals.ObjectiveThe purpose this study was to describe the population at risk, nature events, and type game linked associated with electronic gaming.MethodsA multisite international case series suspected or proven during children systematic review literature were performed.ResultsTwenty-two patients (18 4 via review; aged 7–16 years; 19 males [86%]) identified having experienced ventricular gaming; 6 (27%) had arrest, (18%) died suddenly. A proarrhythmic diagnosis known 7 (31%) before their event established afterward 12 (54%). Ten (45%) catecholaminergic polymorphic tachycardia, long QT syndrome, 2 (9%) post–congenital surgery, “idiopathic” fibrillation, 1 (after Kawasaki disease) coronary ischemia. In 3 (14%), including who died, remains unknown. 13 (59%) for whom details known, 8 (62%) war games.ConclusionElectronic can precipitate lethal arrhythmias children. The incidence appears be low, but syncope setting should investigated thoroughly. conditions, games particular are potent arrhythmic trigger. Electronic individuals. gaming. performed. Psychotropic drugs, cardiac arrhythmia, and sudden death.

A variety of drugs targeted towards the central nervous system are associated with cardiac side effects, some of which are linked with reports of arrhythmia and sudden death. Some psychotropic drugs, particularly tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and antipsychotic agents, are correlated with iatrogenic prolongation of the QT interval of the electrocardiogram (ECG). In turn, this is associated wi...

Cardiac Arrhythmia 3 Ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death

Management strategies for ventricular arrhythmias are guided by the risk of sudden death and severity of symptoms. Patients with a substantial risk of sudden death usually need an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). Although ICDs effectively end most episodes of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation and decrease mortality in specific populations of patients, they have in...

Defects in Cytoskeletal Signaling Pathways, Arrhythmia, and Sudden Cardiac Death

Ankyrin polypeptides are cellular adapter proteins that tether integral membrane proteins to the cytoskeleton in a host of human organs. Initially identified as integral components of the cytoskeleton in erythrocytes, a recent explosion in ankyrin research has demonstrated that these proteins play prominent roles in cytoskeletal signaling pathways and membrane protein trafficking/regulation in ...
